Computers
I love working on and around computers… until you have to do work on them.
I just upgraded my 2002 Mac G4 tower I bought after forced to freelance after the layoffs in 2002. Now I have a new/used 2004 Mac G5 tower. I also managed to score some new(er) Adobe CS3 software to boot! But the complexities of upgrades, updates, patches, etc. are real killers…
- OSX 10.5 does not have support for Extensis Suitcase 10, so now I need to try to upgrade that
- My old Quark 6 does work, sort of, and an upgrade to Quark 7 or 8 is mucho $$!
- My year-old HP all-in-one printer software was outdated, so I had to download the 126MB patch for 10.5
- My USB hub does not seem to work so well with the G5 (USB 2.0 not 1.0)
- Not had time to see if my Stuff-It software will upgrade… yet
I did get some of my old files working tonight, but seems there is one thing after another. Not to mention loosing all your saved passwords online… ugh. I’m too impatient for all this!
Sure is a cool and fast computer! I just need to get it working smoothly, relocate all my files/software, and get the G4 set-up for the family somewhere else (not on the floor behind me). Maybe I can sell my G4 and Katie’s old Mac laptop and get something faster for them…
