Carriage Hill Park

Carriage Hill Park

Roger, Rachel, Katie and James took some of the day Friday to visit Carriage Hill park. The wind was still brisk and the air a touch chilly still, but it was nice. Mom was in the area, and stopped by while we were visiting and had a look at the momma pig and horses at the barn.

At the old house, two women were playing guitar and a tenor recorder with a younger girl, with freshly made vanilla wafers cooked on a wood stove. Things are a little slow at the farm in the winter, but I definately recommend a visit come spring. Then the blacksmith should be hammering out steel shapes, the women may be spinning or making clothing, and the farm hands will likely be planting or working the animals. Just go to http://www.metroparks.org/Parks/CarriageHill/Home.aspx and see what you think! Minus the freeway noise in the distance (from I-70) it takes you back to another time.
