Gas Pay-Back?

I stopped in to get gas tonight in Xenia, and regular was just $1.39 a gallon! Just a few months ago, the news and the stock market had us ready for $5 per gallon gas! It almost seemed as if the radio, TV and OPEC were working together to scare the price of oil up as high as it could go.

It would be understandable if gas went high, and it seemed that world gas producers were just barely keeping up with the costs of making it. But that is not so at all. Every time the price of fuel increased, the next report from the gas companies was “record profits”. Once again we see that market speculation is just gambling, and often to the benefit of traders and companies alike.

At least one positive is that we are finally looking at alternative fuels and cheap transportation more consistently. I’m ready for my hydrogen powered, or fuel cell, car. 2009 is certainly going to be an interesting year for automobilia.
