Labor Day at Norris Lake 2009

This past weekend, we went to visit Rachel’s cousin Bud Brown and his wife at their vacation house at Norris Lake in Tennessee. Bud has built a new house where his double-wide was, near the golf course on Norris lake. We also got to access to their ski boat and took it out a few days. Rachel’s mom came down with Bud and Bev, and returned with us. Our arrival around 11:00 p.m. was welcomed by a local police officer who pulled me over for not seeing the yellow flashing lights on a sign that I could not see… until the next day. It was a school zone and was on for post-football games. Good idea, but a speed trap since the sign was not lit to motorists. I got a warning, thankfully no ticket.

Katie got up on skis for the first time (with dad’s in-water coaching and mom’s driving) after just three tries! James almost got up, but could not hang on to the rope before his over-sized skis were too much to get up. Rachel even sacrificed the cold and got to ski in the perfectly smooth water on Monday. Our misfortune of having so many rain showers gave us the lake to ourselves between downpours.

One of the marinas had fireworks one night, and we got to see that… almost too close to them though! Thanks to Bud and Bev for their generosity in letting us come down. If you are interested, Bud has the place for sale: free dock with hydro-lift, 3 acres of lake front property with a new 2 car garage, private drive, and new two-level house/duplex. $400-600k for all, I think. I hope he does not sell, but if you like the sounds of it, let me know and I’ll get you in touch with him.
