Caleb Michael VanPelt

August 11, 2000 – November 4, 2009

At 7:57 this morning Caleb finally won his battle with cancer. He was resting in his mother’s arms when he took his flight. I believe he must have been waiting for all of his sisters to wake up and say good bye, because while I was getting his baby sister out of bed, he opened his eyes and looked right at his Mom. She told him it was OK to leave now. Dad, Mom, all of his sisters, and Grandma and Grandpa were there with him as he left to be with Jesus.

He is now completely whole, although he is no longer with us. I’d like to say that he is resting in the arms of Jesus, but I imagine that Caleb is probably running and jumping with Jesus (or maybe even riding a horse) now that the pain he was having for the past 10 months is completely gone.

We miss him immensely, but we know that he is happy now and will be waiting for the rest of us to join him in heaven one day.

Please continue to pray for all of Caleb’s family and friends. We have only begun to grieve. It will take some time to remember all the happy times with Caleb without the sadness that comes with them right now. We will always remember Caleb and treasure the time that we were able to spend with him. He was such a precious boy, and such a strong and courageous warrior.

We love you, Caleb!

The viewing for Caleb will be at his home church, Calvary Baptist, in Wilmington, Ohio, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM this Friday, Nov. 6th. The service will also be at Calvary Baptist Church at 10:00 AM, Saturday morning, the 7th.

Thank you again so very much for all your prayers and words of encouragement.

*Caleb was one of the scouts in James’ pack, a couple years older than him.
