Flyin’ High!

We have had a ceiling fan since we bought our house in 2006, that we felt was ‘perfect’ for our living room, but had never been installed. As you can see, it has exposed ‘beams’ which are actually 2x6s placed side by side, and then covered with a pine board.

The beams are about 10 feet off the floor, and there is no place to get up that high without scaffolding, which I have none of. So my brother-in-law and I used some 2x10s and sat them from beam to beam to sit on.

He had the fan up, but it was so far up, I wanted to drop it down. I got a 36 inch fan extension, and re-hung the light (solo – as shown in photo). It was not easy, but it is done, and looks great. Just got a wobble to get rid of…
