The BP fueling station in Xenia was finally re-opened across from Speedway on Old US 35. I like BP gas so I was happy to stop in. I found something disturbing that I had found at a Shell station on Wilmington Pike and Alex-Bell Road. Both stations had a 20¢ jump between their posted “Regular” price and their “Plus” grade.

So while you see a decent price for Regular gas, say $1.87 per gallon, Plus would be $2.07, and some stations may or may not be another 20¢ more than that for Super. I’ve heard even more unbalanced prices elsewhere.

Watch out for this! While stations have the right to charge whatever they want, not sharing that and seemingly going along with the normal price structure can get ya. After pretty much all stations started charging 10¢ more per grade for Regular to Plus to Super, most of the stations now only post one price. If you don’t look at the pump, you may be paying more than the place across the street.

Check the price under the grade at the pump before you get gouged.
