The Last Shot: 85 clicks and two fletchings later

The Last Shot: 85 clicks and two fletchings later

October 20th, Misti (my aunt) and I went out hunting 85 clicks later. We left at about four and sat out in the stand behind my grandparents’, the Kiser’s, house for about two hours. We didn’t see anything the whole time except for a few squirrels and a BUNCH of swarming bugs. But just as we were thinking about how after 85 clicks, just how well the bow was going to shoot. Everything went silent and into fast motion. I didn’t see him at first, but Mim did. When I finally did see him I only had time to glance at the rack before he was in prefect shot position. I was shaking only until I looked into the scope at the red dot and watched as it disappeared when the arrow hit. In total disbelief of what just happened I was shaking and laughing with my aunt, both of us extremely happy and excited. We waited for about 15 minutes and then got down to try to find the blood trail. We looked for a couple minutes before we finally found it and tracked him for about 100 yards, when we saw him we were both very happy because at first we thought it was a lung shot. When we were sure he was dead we walked over to see that he actually had 18 points, 10 regular and 8 little spikes. We also saw it was a heart shot clean through. I couldn’t have been happier!

After we cleaned him, washed him down a little, and took him to check him in at The Spillway Carry-Out and Mamaw and Papaw Starnes met us there, and then Carrie and Tucker met us at Davidson’s Meat Processing where we dropped him off. I want to give a thanks to both place and most importantly God who I know had a major hand in the whole thing.

(ps. Before we actually went out hunting we sighted in the bow. We had to move it down 85 clicks before it was on target)
